Teacher Of The Year
Mrs. Roseann Meszaros - Fifth Grade Teacher
This is Roseann’s twentieth year teaching in elementary education. She is a graduate of Rutgers University and Stockton University. Roseann started her teaching career as a fourth grade teacher at St. Veronica’s in Howell, NJ. After two years there she became part of Eagleswood Elementary School, which she has been enjoying for the last 18 years. Roseann taught second grade for eleven years and this is now her seventh year teaching fifth grade.
Roseann loves coming to Eagleswood every day where she can work with a dedicated and caring staff that truly puts every student first. Roseann’s favorite thing to teach is the life cycle of the monarch butterfly. All summer long, she raises monarchs with her daughter and son and then continues to raise them in the classroom. “It is one thing that my students never forget,” Roseann says. “To see the look on a child’s face the first time they hold a caterpillar or when they release their first monarch butterfly is just priceless”.
When she is not teaching, Roseann enjoys spending time with her family, watching her kids do sports, and gardening.
Support Person of the Year
Mrs. Sue Emanuel - School Nurse
Sue Emanuel has been the Eagleswood Elementary School nurse since October of 2012. Sue has been a nurse for 24 years, and a school nurse since 2001. She formerly worked for Stafford School District, at the Intermediate school, and for a middle school in Carroll County, Maryland. She definitely prefers to be in an elementary school! Sue says “The best part of my job is getting to know the kids. I remember my elementary school nurse’s office as a scary place. I want my office to be the opposite—a place where kids feel welcome and cared for.” The bright bulletin boards, seasonal decorations, and most of all, the toys and books on the shelves make the office very kid-friendly.
Sue graduated from Eastern University in St. Davids, PA. She went back to school after working for an insurance company to get her RN degree. She has worked for a hospital, a nursing home, and a medical station in a casino in Atlantic City. She went back to school again for her school nurse certification at Rowan University. She is also a certified CPR instructor.
Sue is originally from the Pittsburgh area. She mostly grew up in Frenchtown, NJ, and has lived in the Poconos, Chicago and Maryland, but will never again leave the beach. She currently lives in Waretown with her husband, 1 daughter, 3 grandkids and 2 cats. She has 5 kids and 7 grandkids. In her spare time, she likes to read, knit, cheer on the Chicago Bears and, of course, hang out with her grandkids. She feels very lucky to be at Eagleswood.
